In Moscow zoo different excursions are carried out. Review excursions for visitors of any age:
1. Tour (on the Old and New territories) of all animal expositions.
2. Fauna of Russia: bears, Siberian tiger, lynx, waterfowl and predatory birds, wolf, etc. are demonstrated.
3. The Tour of "Exotarium" – the inhabitants of coral reefs – more than 100 species of fishes and invertebrates are demonstrated.
4. The Tour of exhibit "The Bird House" – here you will see ostriches, penguins, parrots, pigeons, etc.
5. Tour of exposition "Primate hause" – acquaintance with baboons, colobus, macaques, orangutans, gibbons and many other primates.
6. Endangered animals in the zoo collection – the excursion is devoted to role of the zoos in protection of nature.
7. A children zoo – here the youngest visitors for the first time will get acquainted with hens, pigs, sheep and other domestic animals.
Special education excursions:
1. Seasonal events in the life of animals – 4 seasons.
2. Animal – heroes of fairy tales. Children will see the favorite fantastic heroes and visit the children zoo, where the fox and crane, wolf and bear, squirrel and hare are demonstrated.
3. Domestic animals – visit to the children zoo and acquaintance with the inhabitants of a cattle court yard.
4. The nocturnal world – acquaintance with nocturnal animals. Due to the unique technique of the captive maintenance of such animals, children will have the possibility to observe fruit bats, flying-squirrels, chinchilla, degu,etc.
5. Tour of the "Exotarium" collection.
The visitors get acquainted with the inhabitants of tropical waters, life of a coral reef. There are more than 100 species invertebrates and fishes presente in the exhibit: actinium, soft corals, crustaceans, sharks, morays, mudskippers etc.
6. Fauna of Russia and its protection.
The excursions will be carried out on systematic or zoogeographical principles. It is possible to organise excursions on a systematic, ecological and conservations basis. The birds of prey, cranes, waterfowl, passerine, european beaver, otter, wolf, bears, Amur tiger etc. are demonstrated here.
7. The diversity of reptiles – excursion will be carried out in "Terrarium", where pupils will learn a lot of interesting facts about life of reptiles, their biology, distribution, necessity in their protection. The crocodiles, lizards, snakes and tortoises are demonstrated.
8. The diversity of birds – the excursion explains links between bird natural history and their appearance; the necessity in protection of birds is emphazed. Birds of various groups are demonstrated.
9. The diversity of mammals – children are learning about typical representatives of predators, ungulates, rodents, primates, etc. Special attention is given to endangered animals and problems of their protection.
10. The diversity of primates – visiters get acquainted with a level of specialization of individual species, with the most interesting sides of biology and behaviour of monkeys. Macaques, gibbons, baboons, common marmosets, colobus, orangutans etc. are demonstrated.
11. The diversity of organisms and their fitness to the environment – pupils get acquainted with a diversity of forms of fauna, comparing representatives of various groups of birds and mammals. The fitness of animals to an environment is explained, relative character of adoptations is underlined. Swan, pelican, bearded vulture, sea eagle, polar owl, white bear, two-toed sloth, gerbil, flying squirrel, etc. are demonstrated.
12. Animal behaviour – the main forms of animal behaviour are considered during this excursion: feeding, territorial, sexual, etc. The concept of communicative links existing in the animal world is given. Wolve, monkey, crane, gerbil, waterfowl, european beaver, etc. are demonstrated.
13. The systematics of birds – the review of main groups of birds; the key features of each group are underlined.
14. The systematics of mammals – review of main groups of mammals, their characteristics are given; the features of each systematic group are considered.
15. An origin of domestic animals – the students get acquainted with modern views on origin of domestic animals. The ancestors of various domestic animals or closely related species (geese, turkey, guanaco, wolve, onager etc.) are demonstrated.
